I wasn't lampooning nor belittling PBI's aspirations at all, indeed I have taken them much further myself as has Yith- you might accuse me of being anal, not me of you!

Yeah... I have to agree there... we should all really be in KDs for this one from what can be seen in the only pics we have (from pegasus archive)...

You wouldn't force me to wear a Belgian Denison because that's all everyone else had, so don't force me to lower my impression to the lowest common denominator now. That's not what I do this for.

And yes, there are pics of sections with mismatched clothing in Italy... maybe not the S.Staffs (because we have so few), but certainly line inf.

Anyway its all moot, knowing the weather in Wales, we'll probably all be in wool and dennys anyway... heh... As I've already said I won't be wearing unblancoed webbing if its muddy!

Lets remember we do this for fun! I sense a bit of getting stressed out here... "calm down, its just a commercial" ;)

"calm down, its just a commercial"

Reminds me - the rather delightfully politically incorrect and opinionated (and obnoxious) Michael Winner refuses to wear a seatbelt in his Rolls, despite his dreadful car insurance ad endorsements!

Well it might crease his suit!

Anyway, he'd rather die than crash his rolls, so its an unnecessary encumberance!

Actualy i just thought, what do you think of a market garden weekender like Oosterbeek perimiter or somthing now that the standard of british kit has greatly improved and like you said alot of us have NWE impressions now, (im not just saying this because i missed the arnhem game :D) also after looking at pegasus archive i see what you mean, but it's too late to buy myself new kit now lol

Michael Winner once threatened to fire me - even though I wasn't working for him at the time...

Wind you up? Shouldn't do and that wasn't the intention (as I am sure you know).
If you want to be historically accurate then don't have blanco'd webbing or wool battledress etc etc.

I wasn't lampooning nor belittling PBI's aspirations at all, indeed I have taken them much further myself as has Yith- you might accuse me of being anal, not me of you!
)

No it totally came across as belittling and to say im a little offended woudlnt be amiss. If that wasnt the intention then fair enough but i found it quite unpleasant.

As for wool... if you do even cursory research you'll see that wool trousers were preferred in Italy and sicily by a lot of troops, you also see wool BD jackets worn as they were more hardwearing. ref incredibly famous picture of polish bren gunner at Cassino in full BD lying on a pile of rubble.

I'll Pm you Dave i dont really want to disagree in public (oh yes its been moved to private now...)

Sorry Gadge, not going to continue an 'argument', everything that I wanted to say is in my reply to your posts.
As you know I have been pro the PBI idea right from before it was publicly launched and have supported it throughout - very odd you think otherwise.

I am sorted for what I want to wear, you are sorted for what you want to wear, so all is cool.

okay after an MSN chat with Gadge... the new guide to PBI uniform for Huskey is:

Denison
Maroon Beret/Airborne Beret.
Blancoed webbing if you have it.
Any brit trousers (not shorts)

This is for the initial drop...

After that you may move to any of the other options.... full KDs/denims, shorts, unblancoed webbing, etc..

Basically this means we have uniformity at the start of the operation and as we move into it we can become more rag-tag and take on the Sicily/Italy idiosyncrasies.

That's fine Yith, should have done it months ago!

Just a note, there will be no opportunity to change clothing in-game so you might have to use a Saturday/Sunday method or change for the Sat evening game.

Heh, I'll pass on a bit of intelligence - the Germans are roaring with laughter at the blanco'd/unblanco'd debate.

Lol they can't talk.

A quick scan of the axis section reveals the following discussions -

What trousers will go best with my natty black panzer uniform?

How to stop my trousers falling down when running away?

What medal do I buy myself for managing to run away without my trousers falling down and more importantly where do I pin it?

Plus lots of mentions of Hugo Boss (presumably the perfume or something).
